Trail Description: The riding here is just gorgeous. Lots of lakes & mountain top views. You can ride up to lots of the bases of mountains. Best mountain riding we have done. The trails are somewhat rocky but clear in spots also. Nothing dangerous or treacherous. You will encounter lots of hikers, some with lamas. There is big sheep area too so be prepared to see them. Not to too many loops, but going out and back is not bad because of the gorgeous scenery that you will see. We saw lots of mule deer, not too many elk, but saw a lot of moose. The last day we were there, there was a moose right next to camp. Best to see them in the early morning or evening. The sporting goods stores in Lander, WY is the best place to pick up some excellent trail maps. We bushwacked a lot and did not have any trouble getting around and we don't even use a gps. There are some beautiful waterfall there to but I don't think they are on the maps.

There is a parking lot that has 6 corrals. You are allowed to stay in your trailer there because they said you are allowed to sleep near your horses. There is a campground adjacent to it but only for tent camping. Be prepared to see many outfitters that park there. You can also put up electric pens. There is no water, but we pumped it from a water bog nearby for the horses and the Big Sandy River is nearby. There is also a spring about 2 miles down the road that you can get people water. There are also other places before you get to the trailhead you can camp but they are further way from the trailhead.
